Street Art of the Day: Higher Level Art repaves the streets of Cincinnati’s historic Over-the-Rhine neighborhood.
[wooster.]
I lived on Jackson Street for almost three years. Alex and I had a total of 6 visitors in our loft because our friends and family were terrified of the neighborhood. We moved in a few months before the Art Academy started renovation on that building. The gentrification of the neighborhood quickly gained momentum after that and while there are great things happening, it’s not my neighborhood anymore. It’s bittersweet for me when I drive down Vine Street. Buildings have been saved but I can’t afford to live there anymore. We paid $350 with all utilities included. All of the houses and buildings are now condos and any rental I’ve seen has been at least twice as much. But I would encourage anyone to drive around that area if you haven’t in a few years. It’s really nice now.
I live on Main Street and my rent is only $375. My friends have even cheaper places. There are still lots of affordable places here.
